Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver Review: Must Have For Runners!


Last year I purchased a Garmin Forerunner 305 and I must say I am highly impressed with this product. The Garmin Forerunner 305 is much more than a standard GPS. It is a personal training device that has allowed me to greatly improve my workouts and tailor my running to meet my fitness goals. When I first read the reviews I was skeptical about purchasing the unit thinking that they were exaggerated. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised when I began using the Forerunner 305.

One thing I lgarmin forerunner 305ike is the unit is about the size of a wristwatch and fits securely on my wrist when I go out for a run.Okay, it’s a little bigger than a wristwatch — but so much more powerful. It continuously monitors heart rate so that I can ensure I am in my optimal training zone and getting the proper cardio workout and provides me with precise speed, distance, pace, and the amount of calories I burn during my workout. The GPS also tracks the path of my workout and I can set waypoints along the route.

Another nice feature about the Garmin Forerunner 305 is that the GPS is very good at maintaining satellite contact. I frequently run cross country, and some of the trails I am on go through relatively dense woods. I have not had any problems at all with losing the connection to the satellites. This has really impressed me because I have owned other GPS units that would lose connection under the same circumstances.

The biggest benefit I have found with using the Garmin Forerunner 305 is the data this device collects. I have discovered it to be very helpful in planning and adjusting my workouts. One neat thing the unit does, is that it saves your previous workouts and you can compete against yourself. I like the Training Center Software that Garmin provides. It easily lets you review and monitor your data from your workouts. You can even graph your data if you want to for visual comparisons. You can also upload your data to Garmin’s website to get more in depth analysis of your routine and get map overlays as well.

garmin forerunner 305 watchAnother thing that I like is that the Garmin Forerunner 305 will switch between workouts with the simple push of a button. I can go from running to riding a bike and continue to use my Garmin Forerunner 305 without making any adjustments. This feature is nice if you like to mix up your routines a little bit.

The Garmin Forerunner 305 has tremendously improved my workouts since I purchased it last year. If you want to take your running to the next level or improve on any workout routine you do, I would highly suggest you consider this device.

Excellent workout tool.

I like this thing quite a lot. I’ve had it for about three weeks, and have used it on 12 workouts so far. I use it primarily for running, with biking a secondary usage. The main reason I wanted it was for the instantaneous readout of distance, running pace and heart rate, the latter needed for the speed work I want to do this running season.

The core functionality (distance and heart rate monitoring) works perfectly.

I had hoped that owning this device would prove motivational for me, and indeed it has. I can’t imagine running or biking without it.

Love this product.

I got my Garmin about a month ago on the recomendation of some friends and have
been thrilled with it. It was really easy to setup and works really well. It
allows me to track my pace, distance, heart rate and many other things and logs
them on the computer so I can see my improvement. I will never run without it.
